Social Media Marketing Leads to Social Reputation
Just as search engines do not value every link equally, they do not view all social accounts the same. This in itself makes sense because anyone can create a new account on a social network fairly easily. So ideally you should get references from social accounts with a good reputation through social media marketing. Having a social account yourself with a good reputation is also helpful. So participating in the online social world will definitely pay off.
But then I create a few accounts myself, right?
Who stops you from creating 50 accounts to improve rankings in a short period of time? However, these types of fake accounts can be easily spotted. They have few quality friends in their network and probably offer little content to the network themselves.
Social Media Marketing 'Likes' And 'Shares'
As with links, it is important with social networks to obtain quality shares and likes. Participating in social networks is essential. If your company does not have a Twitter account, a Facebook fan page and a LinkedIn group then you are about to miss the boat. Without social media marketing you are then not building a network with which you can spread your news and maintain and track your relationships now and in the future. By the way, Google+ was created specifically to deliver plus points in your rankings!
