How can we help?
Magento webshop to King roadmap
Below you will find some points of interest and considerations. If you have any questions as a result of this, you can of course contact us.
Which King version do you have?
Vicus links a webshop to every version of King Software, but the possibilities per King version are different.
Multiple storeviews or separate Magento installations?
Within Magento you can set up several so-called storeviews (online shop windows), which is also supported by the link with King of Vicus. Very convenient to offer a specific storefront per target group while all automation and order management is done via one King installation.
Standard webshop to King or a special architecture?
With a webshop to King, can you get ahead with one Magento installation with one so-called store view or do you have broader ambitions?
- Multiple webshops to multiple King administrations?
- Stock and orders within different business records?
- Multiple Magento installations for different purposes?
- Manage items in one or more King administrations and online sales from other King administration(s)?
- Distribute web orders to different King administrations of different subsidiaries?
Much can be done, even already much with standard available extension modules, however, most of the time customization is needed in King, Magento and/or the link.
Sales in Benelux, Eurozone, Europe or the whole world?
Both the Magento webshop to King and King itself (depending on your version) take into account international payment methods, multiple languages, shipping methods (and costing), global tax calculations and intra-community deliveries (ex VAT).
It will often be necessary to select another provider to handle online payments and logistics.
What domain regime do you want for international multilingual sales?
Domain regime for international web shops | Example |
Subdomain by language | nl.mijndomein.com, fr.mijndomein.com |
Geographically focused with its own domain per country | www.mijndomein.com, www.mijndomein.nl |
Multiple languages on the same domain | www.mijndomein.com/nl, www.mijndomein.com/fr |
What will your look be? And what may it cost?
The design of your webshop to King should not scare away visitors, but your webshop does not have to become a museum either. Design can be a considerable expense, which you will certainly not always earn back. With Vicus, you can therefore decide whether you use a standard template or have a unique design made.
In addition, within the webshop you will need to take into account the design of email templates and in King you may need to adjust the packing slip and invoice. And if you sell to multiple countries, you will also need customized templates for each country.
What is your target audience?
Will you be selling to consumers or business customers? or perhaps both? Are your General Terms and Conditions and your organization set up for this?
And if you have business customers, this may have consequences for price agreements, delivery conditions and payment terms. Does your business customer actually have one employee, or can more employees order from you using their own login?
What will be the category classification?
How are you going to lay out your items so that your customers can quickly find your products on the site. And how are you going to keep track of that? Do you already have a good layout in King and can this be transferred to a Webshop menu structure? Do you want to have any influence on the order of the articles on the webshop? We are happy to think along with you.
And your payment options?
Nothing is more annoying than not being able to checkout a full shopping cart. That means you need to offer payment methods that resonate with your customers, in the currency your customers recognize.
Will you offer all customers the same payment options? Through one of the larger Payment Service Providers or directly through the bank? Which payment methods (e.g. iDEAL, Credit Card, on account) will you offer then? And can customers actually pick up and pay at your warehouse or store? Also in cash?
How do you actually manage your prices?
Price is part of your customer's willingness to buy from you. Pricing in an e-commerce environment is an often underestimated component. Is that a simple pricing model or do you have many special agreements with specific customers? Are your prices in King inclusive or exclusive of VAT.
Are all items actually priced per piece? or per 100? and do they have to be delivered per 100 or can they also be delivered per piece or in other units? King has seven different pricing regimes. Do you also work with scales? Are you also going to use the specific possibilities of the Magento pricing rules?
Do you provide access to your inventory?
Do you have your own stock that you sell online or do you use a supplier's stock? Can your visitor see how much stock you still have? Do you display that exactly or only with, for example, a color indication (traffic light). And can your visitors order an item if it is not in stock?
How do you maintain your item information and present it online?
Both Magento and King have their own way of storing information about items. Vicus' link provides conversion, enrichment, normalization and calculation. Of importance is how your visitors, viewers and voters eventually find the right article. The available information determines how to search and navigate in your webshop.
Do your items have variants in colors and sizes, for example? Are there bundles or other relationships between items? Can you get by with the two images that you can place in King by default or do you want to place more images with an article?
Is additional information about your articles available as separate characteristics that can be used online in filters or have you only included this type of information in the description? Do you still want to transfer PDF files, audio files orvideo files from King to the webshop or do you place them directly in the webshop yourself?
How will you drive sales and loyalty?
Do you want to use all the commercial tools of Magento or is even that not enough? There are many plug-ins that are even more focused on increasing conversion and loyalty.
Do you also want to publish your range on price comparison sites or will you sell through channels such as bol.com? Are you going to write another blog to drive visitor traffic to you via search engines? Can prospects also use the shopping cart as a request for a quotation?
In the web shop to King, are your salespeople allowed to place orders on their tablets on the go? Do they do that on behalf of your customer or just as order entry?
Are there any other specifics for your webshop to King?
You know your customers and your business better than we do. We can get you thinking, but you also have to work on your own. For example, how do we deal with assembly costs, special requests regarding delivery dates, different VAT regimes, item options, order wizards and tracking items?
Customization or not in Magento, King or linkage?
Because every situation is different Vicus can also add customization your Magento webshop to King. King Software also offers the possibility to apply customization. Customization in King or the Magento webshop usually also has consequences for the link between King and Magento.
You may be closing the door to innovations that will become standard in Magento, King or the link in the future. Also, an upgrade or update of King, Magento and / or the link will almost certainly lead to higher costs. Customization now also means extra costs in the future!
You can tailor your e-commerce platform exactly to your target audience. Building a platform entirely custom based on Magento and King is cheaper than building a self-designed e-commerce platform entirely from scratch.
