Vtiger CRM and currency settings

You are here:

In this article we explain how to set separators for currency in Vtiger CRM. A modest setting that determines not only how numbers and currency are displayed, but also how these units are calculated. Previously, we discussed how to configure things like VAT rate in Vtiger CRM and this article ties in well with that.

Currency settings

These settings are specific per user and therefore you need to set them for each user you add to Vtiger CRM. For this you need to have administrator rights and follow the menu via Settings > CRM Settings > Users & Access Management > Users

  2. Which separator we use for decimals in currency.
  3. Which separator we use for thousands in currency.
  4. Whether the currency symbol should be before or after the amount.
  5. How we want to group thousands.
  6. How many decimal places we want to see with currency.
  7. How does Vtiger CRM handle leading zeros in currency.

In this article we want to pay particular attention to the use of separators for thousands and decimals and the underexplored possibility of grouping thousands.

Separators currency

In a standard Vtiger CRM environment, the separators are quite often reversed. This is because the separators used are regionally determined. So make sure that for the field Separator decimals that this is set to , (comma) and that for the field Separator decimals that a . (period) is entered for the Decimal Separator field.

Grouping thousands

What is less known is the option how you want Vtiger CRM to present your currency. If you prefer to use the notation where thousands are separated by a dot you can change that with this field. For example, €1200 would become €1,200 with the setting 123,456,789
