Magento 2 has a more user-friendly interface. This makes it easier to customize your products or make adjustments to the theme. The core has been thoroughly scrapped and clearly looked for ways to make it easier to work with Magento.
Due to the new, cleaned up code, Magento 2 is a lot faster than Magento 1. In addition, new techniques such as Varnish cache have been added. With an outdated platform, technology is not always efficient anymore. With Magento 2 you are completely up-to-date.
Magento 2 includes a test framework. This allows a developer to optimize the performance of the webshop, find errors in the code faster and therefore release releases faster.
For Vicus, Magento 2 means that we can work more efficiently and with better code. Other new techniques like PHP7, jQuery and a standard less CSS preprocessor also give the developer tools to work more efficiently.
Magento will no longer release (security) updates for version 1. If you haven't switched over yet, you probably have a good reason to do so. Vicus still supports Magento 1 at least until July 2029, so there's still no reason to panic, but contact us soon.
In addition to the new core of Magento 2 itself already providing a speed boost, techniques such as Varnish Cache have been added that ensure such short load times that you almost won't believe it's Magento.
The update of my Magento shop was performed by Vicus almost flawlessly. Also, small problems in our web store were also solved.
