Magento and CRM E-Commerce Specialist
Through optimal cooperation between Magento partner Vicus, Byte hosting and other experts, Divoza is running top-notch sales after a period of muddling through.
Divoza Horseworld is a family business active in the equestrian sports. The company has the widest collection of equestrian sports in the world. To keep up with the times, the company chose three years ago to build a Magento webshop. Unfortunately, the construction of the new shop did not quite go as desired. Once the shop was live it was full of problems.
This resulted, for example, in the fact that the webshop was sometimes down and the customers dropped out because they had to wait 20 to 40 seconds in the checkout process. This resulted in a huge drop in sales. Divoza eventually came to Magento e-commerce specialist Vicus. Vicus ensured that the shop was quickly up and running again. Moreover, Vicus immediately implemented a number of nice optimizations to make the shop healthier. Due to the perfect cooperation between the e-commerce department of Divoza Horseworld, Magento partner Vicus, hosting company Byte and smart Magento experts, a record turnover was realized for Divoza.com.

Sometimes we are so happy with a customer case that we like to share the story with everyone. In this case, it involves a perfect collaboration between Divoza Horseworld's e-commerce department, our Magento partner Vicus and savvy Magento experts. The result: record sales for Divoza.com.
Divoza is a familiar name to everyone active in the horse world. Nick Geersing of Divoza: "The family business Divoza Horseworld has the widest equestrian collection in the world, in addition, quality and service are paramount. Divoza delivers to customers all over the world, through a webshop, but also through five different branches spread throughout the Netherlands. We supply some 7,000 items (56,000 variations) in different sizes and colors, in the field of dressage, jumping and driving. "
Divoza had already been active in e-commerce for many years. To keep up with the times, they chose to have a new webshop built 3 years ago. Nick: "Our choice this time was the e-commerce software from Magento, because it made a lot of things possible and you are not dependent on one party. "
Unfortunately, the construction of the new shop did not quite go as planned: "The construction of this new Magento shop was not flawless and has had considerable delays. Once the shop was live it was still full of problems and unfortunately this resulted in the shop being down. In addition, customers had to wait 20 to 40 seconds during the checkout process. Most customers would give up long before that. This resulted in a huge drop in sales."
Divoza eventually turned to e-commerce specialist Vicus
. Vicus was able to ensure that the shop was up and running again quickly, and immediately implemented some nice optimizations to get the shop healthier. For example, they rewrote a theme that could be a lot more effective in terms of code. This already gave some speed gains, but not enough, Vicus thought.
Meanwhile, Vicus became interested in our Hypernode platform and thus came into conversation with us. Together we came to the conclusion that with our shared knowledge we could absolutely pull Divoza's Magento shop out of its misery.
Nick: "Vicus advised us to move the webshop to another hosting party (Byte) that specializes in Magento hosting, because the configuration at the party where we had the website was anything but correct. We had quite a few dedicated servers, but the website remained unstable. In a conversation with Sjoerd from Byte, he guaranteed us that Byte would be able to make the webshop faster and more stable. Byte seemed like the right party for this." We went straight to work!
A GeoIP module was used to get bots to the right storefront. However, this appeared to be set up so that all bots came in on the storefront for America. From there, the GeoIP module then made sure they were directed to the correct storefront, based on IP. So one bot came in on two storefronts: which led to a double load of bots.
The shop was using a heavy-duty link for inventory tracking. This caused many problems and required a lot of capacity and was replaced by Vicus with a link through its VOSBA integration framework.
Both Redis and FPC were not configured. We did that immediately.
The images on the site were enormously heavy. We optimized these with an automatic tool on Hypernode with one click.
We modified some tax rules in the code. This grabbed a lot of computational power that turned out to be unnecessary with a little optimization.
The optimizations had an effect: from a hosting solution with multiple Dedicated servers at the old hosting solution they went to a single Hypernode (package Magento Go Big XXXL). The load time became 3-4 times shorter: from an average load time of about 6-8 seconds to 1.59 seconds. This is total page load time, as the TTFB became even 800 ms.
But in the end, of course, it's about what Divoza notices in the sales figures
:Nick: "Now that the webshop is running stable again, we notice that the sales are rising again, and in the month of September we had a day where we had the highest online sales so far. And by temporarily upgrading the server when we have promotions, we make sure that even during busy periods the customer can click through the site quickly."
We are thrilled that with our Magento hosting expertise and network of smart Magento developers we can lead web shops to their highest revenue ever. That is what we do it for and what gives us a kick.
