Many organizations, especially in small and medium-sized businesses, are increasingly seeing the benefits of automating their marketing, sales and customer service. They choose to implement a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system.
The main reasons for implementing a CRM system are time and cost savings and improved data access combined with an increased level of security. Organizations are specifically choosing Vtiger Open Source CRM.
Vtiger Open Source CRM offers organizations benefits in terms of (easy) expansion with additional functionality, customization, low hosting costs, English support and links to other systems. Vtiger Open Source is already very complete.
The Vtiger On Demand (Cloud) version, on the other hand, offers organizations advantages in terms of the best performance, the most functionality and the most stability. In this blog a comparison between Vtiger Open Source and Vtiger On Demand.
Against corruption and loss
In case of hardware problems, both the Open Source and the On Demand version have several backups of all data available to ensure a quick recovery of your system. The chance of data loss is thus prevented or at least minimized.
Against interception and invasion of privacy
All data is sent over the line with a 128-bit encryption. This prevents reading by unwanted intruders. The network activity is also monitored on a daily basis. Any threat can thus be spotted in time. Action can then be taken immediately.
Anytime, anywhere access
With Vtiger Open Source you have access to all the data in your CRM anytime, anywhere. Open Source CRM is accessible from any device: PC, laptop, mobile and tablet. Even if you cancel your subscription with Vicus you can always get and keep your database. This is not the case with Vtiger On Demand.
Expert and reliable support
Vicus is the Open Source expert of the Netherlands. The organization has the most Vtiger CRM implementations (more than 250 since 2005) behind its name. Expert and reliable support during 5 days a week ensures that organizations get the most out of Vtiger Open Source. Whether it's a technical or functional problem, Vicus helps!
With On Demand, you work in the most stable environment. If your organization is experiencing a vtiger problem, often all the other organizations are experiencing the same problem. You are assured of very fast support if it is indeed a general problem. With an open source vtiger this depends on your supplier (Vicus takes care of this based on a service level agreement / vtiger service agreement).
Many new features
Due to the active Open Source community, there are regular updates and upgrades. Many new features, developed modules, better security and an improved look and feel help organizations get the maximum return from their sales, marketing and customer service processes.
With Vtiger On Demand, you are limited to the modules that are approved by Vtiger.com to run within their infrastructure. Customization is not possible. As a result, a number of modules cannot be installed on the On Demand environment. One reason for this is, for example, that the core files are overwritten. This is something that is sometimes unavoidable in order to properly tune the system to your business needs.
Low hosting costs
Organizations are much more cost effective with Open Source in terms of hosting than with Cloud software. There is a tipping point here, often at 3 users.
Control the code - expand easier
With Open Source CRM, unlike On Demand CRM, you have complete control over the code. With Open Source, you can therefore more easily expand your CRM system with new functionalities. It is also easier to add customizations. At your own discretion and pace, you can achieve stable growth.
Integrations
Open Source can interface with various back-end systems such as Microsoft Dynamics, King and web shops such as Magento and WordPress.
Apps
There are many apps available for vtiger open source CRM. You can also access your customer data on the go. For On Demand there are also Apps, but they are fewer.
Advantages and disadvantages of On Demand
Cons
- No flexibility in functionality. It is the way it is. You can add or subtract less functionality.
- Less flexible. You don't know what happens to data, where is it, you don't know if it's done right. You hand over this process to a party in India.
- With On Demand, you cannot influence the performance of the system. The data is guaranteed in the Netherlands under Dutch law. You can visit your database on request or have it audited.
- Vendor lock-in: if you don't like it you can't say so 1,2,3 I'll go to another party of data.
- On Demand's data is under US law, which can be a disadvantage.
Benefits
- You can have an always good performance
- Zero in-house management. No worries about backups, system monitoring. If the system goes down, it is taken over by another system.
- As an extension of the most stable environment, vtiger On Demand is also the most functional environment. On Demand is always ahead of any system that is free. This is not to say that you will need it.
